Work Permit issuance for residents with investor visas suspended

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has suspended the issuance of work permits to residents with investor visas since May 2024. 

The decision also effects the Family visa. Previously, in Dubai there was an opportunity for investors and their dependents to obtain a work permit and to be hired (after providing the NOC from the sponsor of the visa).

Unofficial sources say that such a dicision was made to revise rules and adopt new verification processes.

The measures were taken in the light of increasing number of cases of fictional obtaining of investor visas, with residents not planning to invest in the UAE economy and set up business, but intending to work as employee.

For the same reason, a limit on the number of investor visas for a company was introduced - now only one investor visa can be issued the first year.
