29.1 Since all types of acids, alkalis and flammable materials are used in the laboratory, the schedule of finishes shall be selected with consideration to the Chemical Resistance, Mechanical Strength, Scratch Resistance, Non-absorption of materials, Heat Resistance, Ease of cleaning & Decontamination, Life Expectancy, Ease of repair & maintenance and Prevention of static charge. Use of ceramic tiles is recommended as the most suitable material since it meets/withstands all the above requirements.
29.2 All electrical machine & lighting equipment/fixtures in the laboratory where there is chance of accumulation of flammable mixtures shall be of intrinsically safe.
29.3 An eye wash shower shall be provided in the Chemical laboratory.
