New Ministerial Decisions on Consumer Goods Pricing Policy

The Ministry of Economy has announced a new pricing policy that come into effect from January 2, 2025. 

 

The new pricing policy aims at the following:

- control price stability and prevent unauthorised price increases,
- ensure transparency of product pricing, 
- regulate relations between suppliers, retailers and consumers on the basis of ethical norms and legislative regulations. 

 

The new policy is related to 9 basic consumer goods: cooking oil, eggs, dairy, rice, sugar, poultry, legumes, bread and wheat. The policy will also apply to some related products and prices for cleaning products, which can only be increased with the prior approval from the Ministry.

 

The regulatory framework for the updated pricing policy includes three new Ministerial Decisions:

 - Ministerial Decision No. 245 of 2024 On the Unit Price of Certain Consumer Goods, effective from January 2, 2025; 
 - Ministerial Decision No. 246 of 2024 On Monitoring the Prices of Basic Consumer Goods, effective from February 11, 2025; 
 - Ministerial Decision No. 247 of 2024 On the Code of Conduct in the consumer goods sector, effective from December 14, 2024.
