The UAE private companies with 50 or more employees are urged to meet the semi-annual Emiratization targets of increasing the proportion of Emirati workers by 1% until June 30, 2024. The information came as a warning from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) in reference to the Cabinet Decision No. 279 of 2022.

In the UAE, false Emiratization in private companies leds to the imposition of fines from AED 20,000 to AED 100,000.

So far, the MoHRE inspectors have already identified violations of the Emiratization rules in 1,379 private companies. According to data issued by MoHRE, 2,170 UAE nationals were hired illegally in the private sector, what represents cases of false Emiratization.

In addition to the above-mentioned fines, violators of the Emiratization targets face:

  • passing a case on to the public prosecutor office depending on the severity of a violation;
  • listing a non-compliant company at the lowest level in the MOHRE system;
  • obligation to pay a set sum of money for every citizen who has not been employed.
