- Having reviewed Federal Law No. 1 of 1972 On the Competences of Ministries and the Powers of Ministers and its amendments,
- Federal Decree-Law No. 32 of 2021 On Commercial Companies,
- Federal Decree-Law No. 37 of 2022 on Family Businesses,
has decided:
The following words and phrases shall have the meanings indicated against each of them, unless the context indicates otherwise:
State: United Arab Emirates
Ministry: Ministry of Economy
Minister: Minister of Economy
Department: The Commercial Registration Department at the Ministry
Competent Authority: The local authority competent for corporate affairs in the concerned Emirate, including free zones
Registry: The unified register of Family businesses established in accordance with the provisions of Federal Decree-Law No. 37 of 2022 On Family Businesses
Family: Relatives by descent and consanguinity
Charter: The written document that governs the governance of the Family's affairs in relation to the Family business and the Family's relationship with the Family business
