With reference to Circular 354 dated 13 May, 2020, Dubai Development Authority would like to remind and reemphasize on Fire and Life Safety requirements during Construction.
Consultant and Contractor are responsible for the effective implementation of “UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice” during construction, modification, alteration and demolition activities.
Significant Fire Safety Compliance requirements include and not limited to the following:
- Fire Risk Assessments shall be conducted and adhered.
- Ignition sources such as Hot Work, Electrical - Installations, Equipment, works, etc. shall be carried out through work permit procedure.
- Entire Construction area shall be marked as “No Smoking area”.
- Ensure safe storage and handling of Flammable and Combustible material away from ignition sources.
- Ensure to obtain Dubai Civil Defense approval for bulk storage of flammable material.
- Ensure safe Fire access road for Civil Defense approach, Means of Egress for evacuation, Fire Detection and Alarm Systems and Fire Protection Systems.
