Federal Decree-Law No. 2 of 2026 Amending certain provisions of Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 Promulgating the Crimes and Penalties Law

We are Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan The President of the United Arab Emirates,

• having reviewed the Constitution;
• Federal Law No. 1 of 1972 on the Competencies of Ministries and the Powers of Ministers, as amended;
• Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 promulgating the Crimes and Penalties Law, as amended;
• Based on the proposal put forward by the Minister of Justice, and with the approval of the Cabinet,

have issued the following Decree-Law:

Article 1

It shall be replaced by the text of Clause 3 of Article 384, and Article 386 of the aforementioned Crimes and Penalties Law shall provide for the following texts::

Article 384, Clause 3:

3. The penalty shall be imprisonment for a term of not less than fifteen (15) years and not more than twenty (20) years, unless the next of kin grant a pardon They have the right to seek retribution at any stage of the proceedings or before the sentence is carried out.
