The Cabinet:
- Having reviewed the Constitution;
- Federal Law No. 28 of 2001 establishing the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, as amended;
- and pursuant to the approval of the Cabinet,
has decided:
The two (2) standard specifications relating to the motor vehicle sector, the numbers, titles and types of which are set out in the table attached to this Decision, shall be deemed mandatory standard specifications applicable in the United Arab Emirates.
The authorities responsible for implementing the provisions of this Decision shall bring their practices into line with the requirements of the standard specifications, as follows:
1. Standard No. 5016:2018 UAE.S, entitled “Technical Requirements for Vehicles of Limited Production”, within 180 days of the date of its entry into force.
2. Standard No. 5019:2018 UAE.S, entitled “Technical Requirements for Vehicle Emergency Communication”, shall apply to vehicle models from the 2021 model year onwards (manufactured and supplied to the State in 2020).
