We, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates,
- After reviewing the Constitution,
- Federal Law No. 1 of 1972 regarding the competencies of ministries and the powers of ministers, and its amendments,
Based on what was presented by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the approval of the Council of Ministers,
We issued the following decree law:
For the purposes of this Decree-Law, the following terms and expressions shall have the meanings assigned to each of them, unless the context requires otherwise:
State: United Arab Emirates.
Office: Emirates Data Office.
Competent Authorities: Federal and local government agencies related to data protection.
Pursuant to the provisions of this Decree-Law, an office called the “Emirates Data Office” shall be established, affiliated with the Council of Ministers, and shall enjoy legal personality, financial and administrative independence, and the legal capacity to undertake the work and actions necessary to implement its powers.
