We, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, after reviewing
- the Constitution,
- Federal Law No. 1 of 1972 on the Competences of Ministries and the Powers of Ministers, as amended,
- Federal Law No. 28 of 2005 On Personal Status, and its amendments,
- Based on what was presented by the Minister of Justice and approved by the Cabinet,
have issued the following Decree-Law:
The Personal Status Law annexed to this Federal Decree-Law shall apply to all matters covered by the articles covered therein, and if there is no provision therein, the judge shall rule in accordance with the Islamic Shari'ah, provided that the most appropriate solutions are chosen as required by the interest, and if not, the judge shall rule in accordance with custom, provided it is not contrary to the provisions of the Islamic Shari'ah, public order or morals.
The provisions of the Civil Procedure Law, the Law of Evidence in Civil and Commercial Transactions, and the Civil Transactions Law shall be applied unless specifically provided for in the attached law.
