We, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates,
- After reviewing the Constitution,
- Federal Law No. 1 of 1972 on the Competencies of Ministries and the Powers of Ministers as amended,
- Federal Law No. 3 of 2016 on the Child Rights Law ‘Wadeema’,
- and based on the proposal of the Minister of Community Development and the approval of the Cabinet,
have issued the following Decree-Law:
The texts of Article 2, Article 27, Article 36 and Article 69 of Federal Law No. 3 of 2016 shall be replaced as per the following:
The competent authorities and concerned entities shall work to secure the rights of children and protect their best interests by developing the necessary policies and programmes that will achieve the following:
1. Preserve the child's right to life, survival and development and provide all necessary opportunities to facilitate this and enjoy a decent and safe life.
2. Secure the child's right to social welfare and protect them from violence, neglect, exploitation and abuse.
