We, Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai,
After perusal of:
- The Dubai Police Law of 1966;
- Dubai Decree of 1961 Establishing Dubai Municipality;
- Dubai Law No. 5 of 1994 Establishing Dubai Transport Corporation and its amendments;
- Dubai Law No. 7 of 2002 Regulating Roads in the Emirate of Dubai; and
- Dubai Executive Council Decision No. 6 of 2003
- and Dubai Executive Council Decision No. 3 of 2005 Forming the Permanent Supreme Road Traffic Committee,
Do hereby issue this Law.
This law will be cited as “Law No. 17 of 2005 Establishing the Roads and Transport Authority”.
The following words and expressions, wherever mentioned in this Law, will have the meaning indicated opposite each of them unless the context implies otherwise:
UAE: The United Arab Emirates.
Emirate: The Emirate of Dubai.
Ruler: His Highness the Ruler of Dubai.
Government: The Government of Dubai.
Executive Council: The Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai.
RTA: The Roads and Transport Authority.
