Abu Dhabi and Dubai have improved their performance in transparency rankings, according to the Global Real Estate Transparency Index (GRETI).
GRETI is based on quantitative market data and survey results from 89 countries and 151 cities. The survey covers 256 real estate market transparency indicators, which are classified into 6 groups: performance measurement, market fundamentals, listing company governance, regulatory environment, transaction process and sustainability.
According to GRETI, markets are categorized into one of 5 transparency levels: highly transparent, transparent, semi-transparent, low-transparent and non-transparent.
Dubai moved up one position to 28th place in the ranking. It retained its position as the only real estate market in the MENA region at the "Transparent level". Abu Dhabi moved up four positions to rank 41st, which corresponds to the “Semi-transparent” level.
Regarding the improvements between 2022 and 2024, Dubai ranked 3rd and Abu Dhabi ranked 5th. They were recognized as world leaders for improvements for:
