The media exerts a strong influence on society as a source of entertainment, information and education. It is therefore important that the media acts responsibly.
The Creative Media Authority Content Code (the "Code") sets out the editorial standards which must be maintained by all individuals or entities operating from the Creative Zone ("licensees") who publish, broadcast and/or communicate content to the public. The Code is a transparent and proportionate regulatory framework that provides the appropriate level of protection for society while minimizing the impact on licensees commercial productivity and innovation.
The Code applies to all licensees who have binding obligations under the Licensing Regulations. This means that licensees must ensure that they comply with the terms of their license, the Code and any associated regulatory codes and guidance published by the Creative Media Authority (the "CMA"). Whilst licensees can disseminate content about any subject they choose, they should ensure that it conforms with all relevant UAE legislation and Creative Zone regulations, including the Code.
