Amendments to three federal decree laws were published in the Annex to the UAE Official Gazette No. 780. To make sure you don't miss important changes, we prepared a brief summary of the amendments.
1. Federal Decree-Law No. 9 of 2024 Amending certain provisions of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 on Regulation of Labor Relations
The Decree-Law introduces amendments to Article 54 related to individual labor disputes, and Article 60 related to the sanctions for violations of the law.
In Article 54 (Individual labor disputes), the time limit for court proceedings related to labor disputes is extended from 15 to 30 days. The limitation period is also changed to 2 years from the date of termination of employment.
In Article 60, the fines were increased. Previously, they ranged from AED 50,000 to AED 200,000. According to the amendements, they now range from AED 100,000 to AED 1,000,000.
