The Cabinet:
Having reviewed the Constitution,
- Federal Law No. 1 of 1972 On the Competencies of Ministries and the Powers of Ministers, and its amendments,
- Federal Law No. 28 of 2001 Establishing the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, and its amendments,
- Federal Law No. 24 of 2006 On Consumer Protection, and its amendments,
- upon the approval of the Cabinet,
has decided:
In the application of the provisions of this Decision, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings indicated next to each of them, unless the context indicates otherwise:
State: United Arab Emirates.
Authority: Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA).
Board: ESMA Board of Directors.
Director General: Director General of ESMA.
Competent Authority: Any federal or local government entity competent to apply the provisions of this Decision, in accordance with the legislation governing its work.
