The Ministry of Economy and the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) have announced new regulations to control telemarketing. These rules apply to all licensed companies, including free zone companies. 

 

The main regulations that govern telemarketing are:

- Companies must obtain prior authorization for telemarketing. 

- Natural persons are prohibited from making marketing calls from their personal numbers.

- Marketing calls can only be made from phone numbers registered in the name of licensed companies.

- It is not allowed to call again if the consumer rejects the product or service after the first call.

- It is prohibited to call more than once a day and more than twice a week if the consumer does not answer or ends the phone call.

- Calls are allowed between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.

 

Consumer Rights:

1. A consumer can register within the Do Not Call Registry (DNCR) service to avoid receiving marketing calls.

2. A consumer can file a complaint to a competent authority because of unwanted phone calls.
