The UAE Public Prosecution clarified the punishments for violating the Federal Law No. 34 of 2021 on Countering Rumors and Cybercrimes. The Law applies to both natural persons (citizens, residents and tourists) and legal persons for committing offences in and outside the UAE.
To avoid any accidential violation of the Law in marketing publications or on social media, we list some of the violations and possible penalties associated with them:
- Incitement to non-submission to legislations - imprisonment and/or a fine of AED 100,000 to AED 500,000.
- Dissemination of the content that harms public morals on social media platforms - a fine up to AED 500,000 and imprisonment.
- Propagation of unlicensed demonstrations, rallies and similar activities - imprisonment and/or a fine of AED 200,000 to AED 1,000,000.
- Propagation of practice of gambling activities - imprisonment and/or a fine of AED 250,000 and not more than AED 500,000.
- Unauthorized fund raising - imprisonment and/or a fine of AED 200,000 and not more than AED 500,000.
