The Prudential – Investment, Insurance Intermediation and Banking Module (PIB) forms part of the DFSA Rulebook and establishes the prudential requirements applicable to most Authorised Firms operating in or from the DIFC. This consolidated version is identified as PIB/VER52/01-26. The document itself expressly states that the consolidated version is provided solely as a documentation tool and has no legal effect; the authentic versions are the relevant rulemaking instruments published by the DFSA.
PIB generally applies to every Authorised Firm other than an Insurer, a Representative Office or a Credit Rating Agency. The precise requirements depend on the firm's prudential Category and on whether it operates as a Domestic Firm or through a Branch in the DIFC. The Module therefore provides separate application frameworks identifying which chapters and rules apply to Categories 1, 2, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 4 and 5.
