The Cabinet:
– Having reviewed the Constitution;
– Federal Law No. 1 of 1972 on the Competencies of Ministries and the Powers of Ministers, and the laws amending it;
– Federal Law No. 28 of 2001 establishing the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, and the law amending it;
– Federal Law No. 24 of 2006 on Consumer Protection, and the law amending it;
– and with the approval of the Cabinet,
has decided:
For the purposes of this System, the following words and expressions shall have the meanings set out opposite each, unless the context requires otherwise:
State: the United Arab Emirates.
Authority: the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology.
Board: The Authority’s Board of Directors.
Director General: The Director General of the Authority.
Competent Authority: The competent federal or local Authority in the State responsible for enforcing the provisions of this System.
