In Dubai, there are two primary types of property ownership: freehold and leasehold. This article examines the differences between these two forms of ownership in relation to residents and non-residents within the emirate and in so-called “designated areas” (excluding the DIFC zone, which operates under its own legislation), as well as the main laws governing them.


Freehold
