- Having examined Local Law No. (1) of 1969 concerning the establishment of the Municipality of Fujairah,
- and Federal Decree-Law No. (24) of 1999 on the protection and development of the environment,
- To prevent people and vehicles from falling into uncovered drains,
We have issued the following circular:
- All buildings (residential and commercial) and houses must ensure that new or damaged sewer manhole covers are fitted with a secure cover made of iron or any other material that meets the relevant specifications, so as to protect residents, passers-by, road users and children from falling into or being injured whilst walking, passing by or playing near such manholes, whether they are located on main roads, side streets or within residential properties.
- The Emergency Office must be notified on the freephone number (80036222) if a manhole cover is broken or stolen, so that the necessary safety precautions can be taken, such as by installing warning lights, safety tape or traffic cones; simply placing a wooden cover, a stone or a tree branch is ...
