The department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of tyres in a clean and safe environment, in accordance with the following safety requirements:

Frame repair:

  • We repair any dents in the car’s bodywork before setting off on a long journey.
  • The tyre must be removed from the wheel to check for any internal damage, in order to detect any sudden tyre failure.
  • The use of external seals to prevent liquid leakage is not always necessary.
  • British Standard BS AU 159 stipulates that the frame must be removed from the metal structure to ascertain whether it is sound; the use of the ‘Seline’ liquid frame is not compatible with this assessment but is considered suitable for permanent repair.

The metal frame structure:

  • Not every wheel rim is suitable for use without an inner tube and an inner tube.
  • For every tubular tyre, the inner tube must be fitted correctly; even in the case of a tubeless tyre, the inner tube must be fitted correctly, with the correct size inner tube, and a non-radial tyre inner tube can be used with this type of tyre.
