Ministerial Decision No. 470 of 2012 Regarding the fishing of migratory surface fish using the ‘hallaq’ (encircling) method

Minister for the Environment and Water,

Having examined Federal Decree-Law No. 1 of 1972 on the Competencies of the Ministries and Powers of the Ministers, and its amending laws,

and Federal Decree-Law No. (23) of 1999 concerning the utilisation, protection and development of the State’s living aquatic resources, and its Executive regulations,

And pursuant to Cabinet Decision No. (21) of 2009 concerning the organisational structure of the Ministry of Environment and Water and its amendments,

In the public interest,

Has decided:

The fishing of migratory surface-feeding fish using gillnets (encircling nets) is permitted for fishermen holding licences issued by the Ministry during the period from 1 November 2012 to 15 May 2013.

Fishing spots

1. Net fishing is permitted in the area stretching from the northern (offshore) part of the Deira Island project to the northern (offshore) part of the Palm Jumeirah project.
