The Dubai Rental Dispute Resolution Center (RDC) has issued a court judgment ruling on evicting a tenant for the purpose of selling or using the property for personal use. The precedent aims at making landlords more mindful of their investments.
The judgment was issued in relation to a property lease case. Initially, the landlord expressed the intention to reclaim the property for personal use and served the tenant with a 12-month legal notice of his intention, as required by law. However, upon the expiration of the notice period, the tenant refused to vacate the premises, what led to a dispute.
The Court has delivered a judgment favoring the landlord, thereby ordering the tenant to vacate the property.
This decision strengthens the legal framework regulating the landlord-tenant relations. It also promotes a culture of mutual respect and compliance with contractual and legislative obligations.
